Boss Engineering has over 50 years of engineering, landscape architecture, planning, and surveying experience in Michigan. Pete Boss Rejoins the Boss Team as COO

The Board of Directors of Boss Engineering is pleased to announce the hiring of Pete Boss as Chief Operating Officer. “Pete previously worked at Boss Engineering for approximately 10 years during the late 1990s and early 2000s in our surveying department and financial areas of the company, and we are incredibly lucky to have him back,” said Brent LaVanway, P.E., President.

For the past 20 years, Pete has been instrumental in improving the operations, program management, and revenue growth of several companies in the aerospace and defense industries. “He is a strong team builder, skilled in operations management, employee relations, leadership development, and mentoring,” said Mr. LaVanway. Along with his role as COO, he will oversee corporate finance functions and step into the role of Human Resources, which was vacated by Dawn Boss, who is retiring after 45 years of service at Boss Engineering.

Boss Engineering was founded in 1969 by Gary R. Boss, an engineer and surveyor, with help from his father, Oscar, and brothers, Wayne, Bryan, Michael, and Dan, during the company’s early years. Today, Boss Engineering is a multi-faceted civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architectural firm serving public and private sector clients.

Boss Promotes Two to Senior Associate and Two to Associate Level

Boss Engineering recognizes the need to promote quality leaders. All four of these individuals have been recognized for their strong work ethic, loyalty, and exemplary commitment to the success of Boss Engineering,” said Brent LaVanway, P.E., President.

William J. Porter, Jr., CST II – Senior Associate

William has been employed by Boss Engineering for over 25 years. He is a CST Level II technician and a Senior Project Surveyor. He has extensive experience in implementing and maintaining large survey control networks, remonumentation, construction stakeout, topographical data collection, and monument placement. Most recently, William has transitioned into the office, where he is responsible for construction staking services and quality control for the entire survey department.

Trevor Ehredt, P.E. – Project Manager, Senior Associate

Trevor has been with Boss Engineering for over 10 years. His first nine years were spent in the engineering department as a project manager, where he managed and designed all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Most recently, Trevor returned to Michigan Tech University to complete additional coursework in geospatial surveying. He is currently a Survey Project Manager and plans to sit for his final test section to earn his Professional Surveyor’s license in 2025.
