The Greenhills School project involves incorporating three building additions totaling 25,000 sq.ft. to the existing school. The additions have been registered to qualify for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art green building strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environment quality. Some of the sustainable design items included in the exterior portion of the project are reduced storm water discharge from the site; low maintenance landscape which incorporates native plant materials with minimal irrigation needed; the use of stored storm water for landscape irrigation; and a green roof design.
